The Prodigy are coming to Glasgow
By Steven McCombe
It's been a long wait - since 1997 in fact - but one of the most influential bands of their time is back to prove that their time is not yet up.
Just when you thought Britpop and nineties culture had died out, back comes a band with a single that makes you realise why you loved them then and why a whole new generation of kids will love them now.
The single is Girls. The band is The Prodigy. And can you believe, it's been seven years since they last properly toured the UK.
The Prodigy's Liam Howlett
pulls no punches
Yes, Keith Flint, Liam Howlett and co are back. And after a decade of distorting sound to dramatic effect, the astounding new single is accompanied by a UK and Irish tour and a fantastic new album entitled Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned.
After a disappointing last single in 2002, Baby's Got A Temper, the band famed for manic beats and wild live performances felt they had a point to prove - that they can still cut it after over a decade making hard, dark dance music.
Liam Howlett admitted in music magazine NME recently: "The last single was sh*t.
"I didn't think it at the time but I wanted to put something out to show people we're still around.
"But I can't wait to ram this new album down the throats of a whole new generation of kids."
The new album is in shops now and features collaborations with Liam and Noel Gallagher as well as Juliette Lewis and Princess Superstar.
The band's tour takes place in December and takes in the following venues:
Birmingham Academy 2nd
London Carling Brixton Academy 3rd and 4th
Manchester Carling Apollo 6th
Glasgow Academy 8th
Belfast Ulster Hall 10th
Dublin Olympia Theatre 11th
