ROTTEN SLAMS PROPOSED BRIT AWARDSEX PISTOLS frontman JOHNNY ROTTEN has slammed organisers of The Brit Awards who hoped giving the rocker a lifetime achievement award would spice up their bland ceremony. The anti-establishment singer has branded the awards "all corporate" and insists it's too late for the organisation to try and recognise achievements in real music and garner bigger audiences. He says, "I don't want to know. They're wasting their time and they've been doing that for a long time. "They think they can just come along and use us. We're not a prop. We were never anyone's prop. They're just trying to glean some credibility. "I wrote something that meant something and had a serious effect on society. That's a lifetime achievement. "If they find themselves in a dumb-a**e predicament it's because they didn't listen in the first place. "The only person they can blame for getting the music industry in a state of a**holes is themselves. It's too late to come back and go, 'Oh, help us out.'"

Pistol Rotten blasts BritsI TOLD you last week that Brits bosses were planning to offer the SEX PISTOLS a Lifetime Achievement Award. The idea was an appearance by the punk legends at the bland ceremony would liven it up with a bit of real rock cred. Yesterday rebellious singer JOHNNY ROTTEN called me with his response to the “honour”. He spat: “I don’t want to know. They’re wasting their time — and they’ve been doing that for a long time. “They think they can just come along and use us. We’re not a prop. We were never anyone’s prop, right. “They’re just trying to glean some credibility.” The rocker, responsible for anti-establishment classics including Anarchy In The UK and God Save The Queen, branded the awards “all corporate”. He added: “I wrote something that meant something and had a serious effect on society. That’s a lifetime achievement.” Johnny also said the Brits had lost their way by turning their backs on real music for too long. He raged on: “If they find themselves in a dumb-a**e predicament it’s because they didn’t listen in the first place. “The only person they can blame for getting the music industry into a state of a***holes is themselves. It’s too late to come back and go, ‘Oh, help us out’.” So, I guess that’s a no then.

Lifetime Brit award not for JohnnySex Pistols frontman John Lydon says that the organisers of the Brit Awards are "wasting their time" if they want to award the legendary punk rockers a life-time achievement award. Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, said he is not a fan of the "all corporate" Brit Awards after organisers revealed they were considering honouring the group to bring a bit of excitement to next year's ceremony. He said: "I don't want to know. They're wasting their time and they've been doing that for a long time. They think they can just come along and use us. "We're not a prop. We were never anyone's prop. They're just trying to glean some credibility. "I wrote something that meant something and had a serious effect on society." The move follows the Sex Pistols refusal to attend the band's induction into the US Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame.

Johnny Rotten Slams Brit Awards Sex Pistols won't be accepting any gongs....by Chris Taylor on 4/15/2006John Lydon has dismissed the “all corporate” Brit Awards’ chances of awarding the Sex Pistols a life-time achievement award. Following his refusal to attend his old band’s induction into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year, Lydon, popularly known as Johnny Rotten, has told the Brits they are wasting their time trying to dole out awards to the punk rockers. He rants, “I don't want to know. They're wasting their time and they've been doing that for a long time. "They think they can just come along and use us. We're not a prop. We were never anyone's prop. They're just trying to glean some credibility. "I wrote something that meant something and had a serious effect on society.”

John Lydon has rejected the “corporate” Brit Awards’ attempt to use the Sex Pistols for credibility.
The punk star said organisers need not bother offering his old band a lifetime achievement award.
“I don't want to know,” he commented. “They're wasting their time and they've been doing that for a long time.
"They think they can just come along and use us. We're not a prop. We were never anyone's prop. They're just trying to glean some credibility,” he added. "I wrote something that meant something and had a serious effect on society.”
